WHAT HAVE WE ACCOMPLISHED?

There has been a significant amount of activity in downtown Tyler in just the past year.

  • Over $72,000,000 was privately invested within the Heart of Tyler boundaries and over 630 new jobs were created.
  • The Sports Zone Bar and Grill, Lost in Time, and Gipson girl brought new shopping, dining and entertainment opportunities to downtown visitors.
  • The Texas Blues Festival, Out to Lunch on Main Street, Festival on the Square, and the annual Pumpkin Contest entertained thousands of downtown employees and visitors.
  • The Heart of Tyler was once again named a recognized city by the Texas Historical Commission, and Executive Director Kathey Comer joined the ranks of the state's eight certified Main Street Managers.
  • New units were added to the downtown housing market and existing properties continued a near 100% occupancy rate.
  • Membership in the Heart of Tyler/Main Street continued to grow as more and more people realized the importance of a healthy central business district.
