Official FOS SOS Theme Song (Sing to the tune from "Gilligan's Island") Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale, A tale of a fateful trip That started in a tropic port; We hoped Ike would not hit.
The storm was a mighty hurricane, But our committee brave and sure. We all watched out but set sail anyway For a Festival for sure, a Festival for sure.
The weather started getting rough, All of the plans had to be tossed. If not for the courage of a fearless few, Our momentum would be lost, our momentum would be lost.
FOS set ground on the shore of this unwelcome fiscal news With bills to pay, Disappointment too, No gate income, no ticket sales! What will we do? We must go on, we must achieve Here in Downtown Tyler!
So this is the tale of the Festival, It’s been here a long, long time. We have to make the best of things; It’s an uphill climb.
The board members and the director too, Will do their very best. But they need your help for the Heart to beat on Will we pass the test?
We need you! Can you help us? We need to make up What we lost with the visit of Ike. Like every other non-profit group, We need our money to spike.
So join us on the Sixth our friends, You’re sure to get a smile From helping Heart of Tyler make up For the damage done by Ike! |
BULLETIN...Hurricane Ike left many in the wake of its destruction...including the Heart of Tyler! The cancellation of Festival on the Square (FOS) due to Ike left us with significant financial losses. Held a one-time event to make up some of those losses and continue its mission of downtown revitalization. We called on all "buoys and gulls" to be financial anchors! Hundreds came and enjoyed fun, food and fellowship in a newly restored second-story space. Thousands of dollars were donated to help "shore up" Heart of Tyler in wake of its Ike-related losses. THANK YOU to everyone who donated, attended and supported this event! |
